Wrapping up Summer…in December

I look at my blog and see the pictures from June and it seems like just yesterday. It’s crazy how fast the time goes the older you get. These past few months have been full of the regular day to day activities with something fun and unexpected mixed in.

In June Brian and I had a fun time in Park City at Savor the Summit. This was our second year going, it has become the standard Father’s Day gift for Brian. All of Park City main street is closed down and the restaurants set up tables in the street and serve 5 course meals. This year we ate at Bangkok Thai and it was so delicious. My favorite was the purple, mango sticky rice. The rice was really purple!

Another exciting event was our Big Guy turned 6 this summer!  I can’t believe my baby is 6. This year for his birthday party I had to get really creative. He wanted a Zelda party. Did you know there is absolutely 0 party stuff for Zelda!?  I ended up making everything for the party.  The kids got to decorate shields, then they went on a scavenger hunt to find rupies (Zelda $) to buy swords, then they had a great time sword fighting each other.  I made cupcakes and they melted in the sun.  Oh well, the kids still loved them.

For Bentley’s 6 year old pictures we took him Foto Fly. He even got to take his guitar for the pictures. I love how the pictures turned out. Luckily we got the pictures take right in time because the next day his front tooth fell out. It was super lose and it was a big worry that his tooth would fall out before we got the pictures taken. Here are a few of my favorites.

Bentley has played in his first guitar showcase.  It was fun to see all of his hard work pay off.

Brian and I celebrated our 7th anniversary in August. This year it was Brian’s turn to plan what we did. He surprised me by taking us to Lagoon. It was fun to hang out alone all day and act like kids.

Other than that our summer was pretty uneventful. I spent most of my time sitting at the computer writing dreaded papers for my master’s classes. I am so glad I am finished!

June 2011

It seems like every summer June is so crazy busy that all we do is run!  We did lot’s of stuff this June.  I attended my final master’s class… Yay!! However, I’m still working on finishing up all of my papers, they’ll be done the first of August then I’m done forever!!!

At work Brian put it lots of hours getting stuff ready for SF’s first Wild West Days.  Since Bri put so many hours into this project we decided we’d go see what it was all about.  There was a petting zoo, a rendezvous, pig races and more. The best part was the pig races.  It was so funny to watch the pigs race each other for the Oreo. Bentley got a pig nose from the races. LOL I think it looks great! We also went to the Wild West Show which was a lot of fun.  It was all about the old west and the cowboys.  Bentley really liked it.

Of course we celebrated Father’s Day in style!  The day before Father’s Day, I left a door hanger for Bri to fill out his choice of breakfast for the morning.  Then I woke up early and decorated the house for him.  Bentley and I surprised him with an iPhone. Let me tell you it was super hard to keep it a secret.  I usually can’t ever keep a secret if I’m excited about something. This time though he had no clue.  When he opened it he was so excited.

Bentley went on his first mountain bike ride.  We went up to South Fork in Provo Canyon.  It’s a beautiful trail!  Bentley did awesome.  The way up was a little hairy and included a lot of walking, but he totally rocked the trail on the way day.
We finished June with celebrating Bentley’s birthday.  That’s a separate post, soon to come.

Month of May: Part 2

Wow, it's already July and I'm just getting around to posting May part 2.  My poor deserted blog :(
Now onto May part 2.
Bentley graduated from kindergarten!  I can't believe he is going into first grade.  I'm so excited because he'll be at the school all day long. I finally won't be a nervous, crazy person wondering if my child is okay, alright I probably still will but at least he's in the same building as me.

We have trouble looking at the camera

All graduated!

Best Buds
Bentley loved singing the graduation songs.  He sang them everyday leading up to the graduation and many weeks days following. Bentley definitely loves being on stage in front of a crowd.
Deep in thought by the river @ Sundance

I thought I saw a bear!!

Ready to race!

After the race.

Over Memorial day weekend Brian raced in is first Super D race at Sundance. This is a downhill mountain bike race.  Bentley and I got to enjoy the beautiful scenery at Sundance while Brian practiced the course before the race.  It was super cold up there.  After Brian's first practice ride he came down and we had to head to Target to get him something to wear under his shirt because there was snow at the top of the mountain.  Snow!! Needless to say it ended up snowing in the valleys the next day.

That night we had fun with our dear friends Jamie and Ammon and kids, and Shane. It's so fun when we get to finally hang out.

The Month of May: Part 1

May is always a whirlwind around our place.  The end of school is crazy busy for me.  This May we had a lot going on, I graduated (even though I will actually finish my classes this summer), I finished my Master's Project, hit Vegas after graduation, Bentley graduated from Kindergarten, Brian raced in his first Super D race(mountain bike), and of course another school year has now come and gone.

First of the month:
Graduation
I graduated on May 7th.  We stayed the night before graduation in St. George.  I had so much fun shopping with my mom and sister, while Bentley, Brian, and Shane stayed at the hotel.  On the way up to graduation, which was in Cedar City, our car started to make a strange noise. That strange noise was the sound of our turbo going out.  Fantastic! Needless to say, we made it to Cedar City, but a lot slower than anticipated.  I literally ran into graduation and was the last one to walk in, Neat!  (I found out later there was actually a guy who was even later, he didn't even get to walk in with us) Anyway, graduation was fun.  It was fun being hooded, it made it worth all the pain and suffering of school. After graduation Brian, Bentley, Shane and I headed to Vegas to enjoy relax and for Brian and Shane to get some riding in.  What a great way to end graduation weekend, in Vegas.
On the way down, using my new camera

A Trip to Farm Country

This past Friday I took the day off work to join the kindergarten on their field trip to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country.  It was so fun to hangout with the kindergartners and be the mom helper and NOT the teacher.  Luckily we only had an hour to spend at Farm Country because it was FREEZING!!  I had a group of 4 darling little boys.  Bentley's favorite part of the field trip was feeding the llama out of his hand.  He said it tickled. Here's a couple pictures of our trip.

I took the whole day off work to hangout with Bentley.  After the field trip we went to see Hop for the 2nd time and we ended up seeing it again that night with Brian. Yes, we've seen it 3 times and LOVE it! The next day I woke up to Bentley playing the drums on the couch. Just a side note my fitness blog has been updated.
